GAZA, (PIC)
The Palestinian Information Center (PIC) has called for protecting Palestinian journalists and holding Israeli occupation officials accountable for their repetitive crimes against journalists, referring to the killing of its office director in Gaza, Dr. Rizq al-Gharabli, who was martyred on Tuesday during relentless Israeli attacks on Khan Yunis, south of the Gaza Strip.
In a statement on Wednesday, the PIC mourned the martyr, saying, “As we mourn our martyr and fellow journalist and academic Dr. Rizq Al-Gharabli, we strongly condemn the Israeli occupation army’s continued targeting of journalists and media professionals.”
The PIC asserted that this targeting is a desperate Israeli attempt to silence the voice of truth and to cover up its shameful offenses and violations of all international conventions and laws.
The PIC called on human rights and humanitarian groups to take effective action to ensure that Israel is prosecuted, brought to justice, and obligated to protect journalists and the freedom of speech.
The Center urged international organizations concerned with the freedom of the press and the protection of journalists to condemn the systematic murders carried out by the Israeli Nazi occupation and to hold accountable those involved in targeting those heinous crimes.
Dr. Gharabli’s death brings the number of Palestinian journalists who have been killed since Israel started its genocidal war on Gaza to 124 martyrs.
