Groups of fanatic Israeli settlers stormed on Saturday Bab al-Rahma cemetery, adjacent to the eastern wall of Al-Aqsa Mosque, and destroyed some of its tombstones.
Jerusalemite sources reported that groups of settlers, with at least 40 settlers in each group, stormed the cemetery this morning and destroyed the tombstones of a number of graves in it.
Bab al-Rahma cemetery has recently been subject to a significant escalation of Israeli violations; most notably, placing a severed donkey’s head amongst Muslims’ graves, destroying gravestones, dancing on graves, and holding settlement parties in the cemetery.
The Hamas Movement said, “The settlers’ desecration of Bab al-Rahma Islamic cemetery near the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied Jerusalem is an expression of hatred towards our Palestinian people and sanctities,” calling on Palestinians to frequent the holy site and to deter the Israeli Judaization plans.
Jerusalemite activists and movements renewed their calls for forming urgent volunteer civil committees to guard the cemetery in defense of the graves of hundreds of Jerusalemite families.
