Sheikh Ekrima Sabri, head of the Higher Islamic Council in Occupied Jerusalem, has called for marching en masse to the Aqsa Mosque during the holy month of Ramadan, stressing that Muslim worshipers should go to their holy site without any restrictions.
“Israeli officials have conflicting statements with regard to allowing or not allowing Muslims to pray at the Aqsa Mosque and imposing age limitations on them, as if the Mosque belongs to them and this is reprehensible,” Sheikh Sabri told Anadolu news agency.
Sheikh Sabri stressed the need for not restricting the entry of Muslims to the Aqsa Mosque, especially during Ramadan.
““Why do the occupation authorities make problems every Ramadan?” Sabri said. “Because they do not want to see so many Muslim worshipers at the Aqsa. If they (Israeli authorities) stay away [from the Mosque], it will be peaceful even if a million worshipers come,” Sheikh Sabri pointed out.
“Ramadan is a month of worshipping, but the Israeli occupation stirs up trouble every year,” he added.
He warned of Israeli intents to impose age restrictions on entry of Muslims to the Aqsa Mosque as part of its efforts to impose its control over the holy site.
