Hamas Movement in Lebanon issued a statement on Friday in response to a report by the Lebanese Broadcasting Corporation International (LBCI), denouncing it as biased to Israel and inciting against resistance.
“The LBC’s report is aimed at inciting against the resistance and its leadership and at criminalizing its work, methods and tools,” Hamas said.
The LBC sparked widespread controversy after broadcasting a report that equated the leaders of Hamas with the leaders of the extremist Israeli occupation government.
Hamas accused the report of disregarding its perspective and justifying Israeli crimes while criminalizing Palestinian resistance efforts.
Hamas stressed that “comparing the resistance to the occupation, or its leaders to the criminal leaders of the occupation, is per se bias towards the occupation, promoting its project and existence, and submitting to it.”
The Movement highlighted that the report, entitled “The War of the Lunatics and Extremists,” contains “an absurd, unjust, and unprecedented comparison between the fascist occupation government and the resistance fighters in the Gaza Strip. It contains a number of inaccuracies that contradict the facts and are implicitly consistent with the occupation’s efforts to hold the resistance fighters responsible for killing children, women, and genocide in general.”
The statement continued, “As we express our astonishment at the content of the report and its timing, we call on the LBC to uphold impartiality and stand with the victims, as it has done since the beginning of the aggression.”
Hamas stressed that “conforming with the occupation in content is an additional crime against the victims, a departure from human values, and support for the war of extermination against our Palestinian people.”
