Borrel: Gaza became ‘graveyard’ for most important principles of humanitarian law

BRUSSELS, (PIC)

Josep Borrell, the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, has described Gaza Strip as an open “graveyard” thanks to the Israeli aggression on the enclave.

“Gaza was, before the war, the greatest open-air prison. Today it is the greatest open-air graveyard. A graveyard for tens of thousands of people, and also a graveyard for many of the most important principles of humanitarian law,” Borrell told reporters at the doorstep of the EU foreign affairs meeting in Brussels on Monday.

He said in another statement on X that Gaza is facing famine. “100% of its people are acutely food insecure; in the North, 70% are facing famine. Hunger can’t be used as a weapon of war.”

“We urge Israel to allow free, unimpeded, safe humanitarian access,” the EU official said.
