The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) announced the martyrdom of 171 of its employees during the ongoing Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023.
“The total number of UNRWA colleagues who have been killed since the start of the aggression on Gaza till March 25 has reached 171,” the UN agency said in a report on Saturday.
Throughout its war against the Gaza Strip, Israel targeted many UNRWA facilities across the Gaza Strip, the most recent of which took place on March 14, when a food aid distribution center in Al-Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza Strip became the target of an Israeli bombing, resulting in the loss of 8 lives.
On Thursday, the United Nations Population Fund announced that Israel prevented UNRWA from providing aid to thousands of displaced Palestinians.
In violation of the international laws and conventions, Israel has been restricting humanitarian access to Gaza, especially by land, causing scarcity of food, medicine, and fuel supplies and a famine that claimed the lives of many children and elderly people in the Strip which has been besieged for 17 years.
