The Palestinian journalist Abdel Wahab Awni was killed on Sunday after the Israeli army bombed his home in the Maghazi refugee camp in central Gaza, the Government Media Office (GMO) said in a statement issued on Sunday.
After the killing of the photojournalist in an Israeli airstrike, the GMO said that the number of journalists killed since the start of the war has now risen to 137.
A record number of journalists have been killed in the besieged enclave since October 7.
The latest air strike targeting reporters in Gaza came earlier today, when a journalists’ tent was targeted in the courtyard of Aqsa Hospital, killing at least four people.
