World Health Organization (WHO) spokeswoman Margaret Harris said on Tuesday that the destruction of Al-Shifa Hospital has ripped the heart out of the enclave’s healthcare system.
“It was the place people go to for the kind of care that a really good health system provides, that we in all our societies expect to have should we be in need,” Harris added.
The Israeli occupation forces left Al-Shifa Medical Complex and its surroundings, west of Gaza City, after a two-week operation leaving hundreds of martyrs and massive destruction to the complex’s facilities and infrastructure.
Since October7, the Israeli occupation army has been waging a bloody aggression against the Gaza Strip by land, sea, and air, claiming the lives of 32,916 citizens and wounding 75,494 others, the majority of whom were children and women.
