45,000 worshipers perform Taraweeh prayers at Aqsa Mosque

Wednesday 3-April-2024

Around 45,000 Palestinian worshipers performed Taraweeh prayers on Tuesday evening at Aqsa Mosque in Occupied Jerusalem, despite Israeli restrictions.

In a brief statement, the Islamic Endowments Department in Jerusalem said nearly 45,000 worshipers attended Taraweeh prayers at Aqsa Mosque.

Israeli forces imposed tight movement restrictions in the Old City, hindering access to the Mosque.

Taraweeh prayers are special night prayers that are performed during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.

Israel has restricted Palestinian worshipers’ access to Aqsa Mosque amid growing tensions across the occupied West Bank due to the Israeli army’s ongoing offensive on the Gaza Strip.

On the first day of Ramadan, the Israeli forces erected barbed wire on a fence around the Lions’ Gate area adjacent to the holy site.
