Wednesday 17-April-2024

More than 5,000 Palestinians have been detained from the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023, making the number of Palestinian prisoners inside Israeli prisons close to 10,000.

On Palestinian Prisoners Day, the government media office (GMO) said that the Israeli occupation practices the worst forms of torture against Palestinian prisoners, calling on the international community to assume its moral and legal responsibilities.

Along the same line, the Palestinian Journalists Syndicate said that 100 Palestinian journalists have been arrested since the beginning of the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip on October 7, 2023.

The Syndicate pointed out that 10 female journalists were among those detained, saying that four female journalists are still held behind Israeli bars.

It further said that 50 journalists were detained in October and November 2023, while about 40 of them are still held in Israeli prisons.

Most of the detained journalists were subjected to severe beatings, ill-treatment, and deliberate medical negligence, it added.
