At least seven Palestinians were martyred, and others injured at dawn Thursday in an Israeli airstrike that targeted Al-Jamal family’s house in the Al-Jeneina neighborhood, east of Rafah.
Medical sources reported that among the martyrs was journalist Muhammad Al-Jamal, adding that the martyrs and wounded were taken to Abu Youssef Al-Najjar Hospital in the city.
The martyr’s brother Journalist Mahmoud Al-Jamal reported that his family including many children were in the house at the moment of the attack.
Al-Jamal explained, in a video interview published on social media, that the house was sheltering relatives who had recently been displaced from Khan Yunis.
Beside his brother, the martyrs included his niece, his brother-in-law, Dr. Jamal Nabhan, and a number of his family members, he added.
Journalist Mahmoud pointed out that his relatives survived a previous airstrike, after which they decided to move to Rafah. His nephew was martyred in that attack, he revealed.
The Government Media Office in Gaza mourned martyr Muhammad Al-Jamal, who was working as a journalist at the Palestine Now News Agency, noting that the number of journalist martyrs have risen to 141 since the start of the Israeli genocidal war on the Gaza Strip.
