The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) announced on Friday that only 165 bodies out of 392 bodies recovered from the Nasser Hospital complex in Khan Yunis city in southern Gaza Strip have been identified. The Palestinian Civil Defense reported that they have been unable to identify the remaining 227 bodies due to changes in physical features, mutilation, or significant decomposition exacerbated by some bodies being placed in plastic bags three meters deep.

In its report, the UN office called on the Palestinian Civil Defense to conduct an independent investigation, including forensic examination of approximately 20 bodies believed to have been buried alive. It noted that three mass graves were discovered in the Nasser Hospital complex, one in front of the morgue, another behind it, and a third near the kidney dialysis building.

Since October 7th of last year, the Israeli occupation forces, with American and European support, have continued their aggression against the Gaza Strip. Their aircraft have been bombing the vicinity of hospitals, buildings, towers, and the homes of Palestinian civilians, destroying them over the heads of their inhabitants. They are also preventing the entry of water, food, medicine, and fuel to the besieged enclave.

The ongoing Israeli aggression on Gaza has resulted in the deaths of 34,356 citizens and the injury of 77,368 others, in addition to the displacement of approximately 1.7 million residents of the Gaza Strip, according to United Nations statistics.
