Al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, has published a video of two Israeli captives held in Gaza, showing footage of them calling on Israeli premier Benjamin Netanyahu’s government to make a deal to secure their release.

The prisoners warned that the ongoing Israeli attacks on Gaza pose a threat to their lives, already killed dozens of their compatriots and deprived the rest from celebrating the Passover festival with their loved ones.

One of the captives in the video called on Netanyahu’s government to be flexible in the negotiations over Gaza so that a deal can be reached soon. “We are living in difficult conditions under violent bombardment. Sometimes we feel like you have abandoned us.”

Another captive addressed Israeli families, urging them to continue their pressure on the government to have them return home. “I hope that you will continue to hold demonstrations in order for there to be negotiations that lead to a deal, and I want you to do everything in your power to put pressure on the government with all possible means.”

In response to the video, the families of Israeli captives in Gaza released a statement, stressing the need for the Israeli government to choose between the ground invasion of Rafah or a deal with Hamas.

“The war must end and a price has to be paid … Entering Rafah will result in the death of more captives. Israel must choose to return them,” the families said.
