The head of the Government Media Office (GMO), Salama Marouf, said that the Israeli occupation army is escalating its aggression across the Gaza Strip, turning a blind eye to all international calls for ceasefire.
“Over the past twenty-four hours, all governorates of the Gaza Strip have been witnessing a remarkable escalation of the aggression, most notably in Rafah, with continued incursion of Israeli military vehicles into the east of Rafah City, and each of Khan Yunis, Gaza, Beit Lahia and Beit Hanoun,” Marouf added in a statement on Friday.
This escalation comes at a time when news has been leaking about the Israeli approval of expanding aggressive operations in Rafah in conjunction with international warnings against the repercussions of such a move that portend a looming humanitarian catastrophe in the Strip, Marouf remarked.
The head of GMO warned of the consequences of the continued Israeli crimes and its escalating incursions, intensified bombing of inhabited homes and the destruction of public service facilities.
He stressed the need for urgent intervention, demanding the UN Security Council to adopt a resolution to halt the aggression and ensure the entry of the necessary humanitarian needs for citizens and public service sectors, most notably the Ministry of Health, municipalities, and the Civil Defense.
