Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that Hamas is “a resistance movement defending its occupied territories.”
This came in a joint press conference with Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis in Ankara.
“We don’t deem Hamas a terrorist organization. I see them as people struggling to protect their land and people.”
He stressed the need for “the international community, led by Western countries, to speak out loudly against the killing of more than 35,000 innocent Palestinian civilians.”
“We will continue our diplomatic efforts to force Israel to cease fire and to increase recognition of the State of Palestine.”
