Abeer Atifa, the Middle East representative for the World Food Program, issued a warning, stating that the northern Gaza Strip is experiencing another round of famine and that the food security in the Gaza Strip is getting dangerously close to breaking point.

She continued in press statements that the ongoing Israeli military operation in Rafah has resulted in a strict and tight closure of the Strip’s crossings, which has caused hunger to return to northern Gaza.

She clarified that the precise numbers show that the populace does not have access to enough food supplies to meet their basic needs and that aid does not reach them far enough to avert famine.

She said that following the first wave of famine that killed many civilians and severely affected children, women, pregnant women, and others, the northern Gaza Strip is now experiencing a new wave of starvation.

A significant humanitarian threat faces the Strip, according to Atefa, who also emphasized that the conditions for humanitarian aid and relief are exceedingly hazardous and catastrophic in many cases.

In order to guarantee the delivery of aid, she emphasized the necessity of putting an end to the fighting, ending the war, and opening the crossings. She reiterated that there is no feasible substitute for land corridors for the delivery of aid.
