Over 40,000 Muslim worshipers performed on Sunday the Eid al-Adha prayer at the Aqsa Mosque despite the movement restrictions imposed by the Israeli occupation police in Jerusalem.
According to local sources, Israeli police officers assaulted in the morning a number of Muslim worshipers as they were walking to the Aqsa Mosque and after they left the holy site and prevented many others from entering the site for the Eid prayer.
The Islamic Awqaf Administration in Occupied Jerusalem said that the Israeli police barred thousands of Muslim worshipers from reaching or entering the Aqsa Mosque, forcing many of them to perform the Eid prayer on roads in the Old City.
In al-Khalil, local sources said that around 8,000 Muslim worshipers were able to perform the Eid prayer at the Ibrahimi Mosque in the midst of tight Israeli restrictions on the entry of Palestinian citizens to the Islamic holy site.
