The Commissioner of the Palestinian Tribes in the Gaza Strip confirmed the tribes’ supportive position of the Palestinian factions, saying, “We will not be an alternative to the factions, and we will thwart the plans of the Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, to rule Gaza, just as we thwarted the Israeli plans during the past nine months.”
The Commissioner asserted in press statements that the Palestinian tribes refuse to be an alternative to any Palestinian political party ruling the Gaza Strip, asserting that the Palestinian people have the sole mandate to determine their fate and to choose their representatives to rule the Strip.
Netanyahu had admitted last night, in televised statements to Hebrew Channel 14, the failure of a plan to grant Palestinian tribes in Gaza control over the Strip, pointing out that his government is working on another plan, giving no further details.
Israeli Channel 12 revealed that Netanyahu’s government discussed during its last meeting a plan of imposing a temporary military government in the northern Gaza Strip.
