The Hamas Movement said that the Israeli security cabinet’s decisions on settlement expansion represent a practical declaration from the Israeli occupation government of proceeding with the extremist Bezalel Smotrich’s plans to control the West Bank.
The Movement stressed, in a press statement on Friday, that these fascist measures require a unified Palestinian position in order for Palestinians to be able to reject and confront the Israeli extremist government’s plans and policies.
Hamas called on the United Nations and the international community to take effective action to stop these measures, which will eventually fail, it stressed, in the face of the steadfastness and resistance of the Palestinians in the West Bank.
On Thursday evening, the Israeli Minister of Finance, Bezalel Smotrich, announced Israeli security cabinet’s approval of several moves aiming at Judaizing the West Bank, including expanding settlement, legalizing five flashpoint outposts, and imposing additional punitive measures against the Palestinian Authority (PA).
Smotrich claimed that these measures come “in response to foreign countries’ recognition of the Palestinian state and in response to the PA’s actions at the International Criminal Court and the International Court of Justice.”
