The prisoner, Jamal Ahmed Shawahneh, from Al-Saila Al-Harithiya town in Jenin, died in Israel’s custody after being subjected to severe torture and beatings.

Family sources reported on Thursday that the martyr Shawahneh died on Wednesday of a heart attack. He was transferred to the Rambam Hospital in Haifa, where his martyrdom was announced.

The martyr, who is the father of the wounded resistance fighter Dia Shawahneh, was arrested four days ago from his workplace in 1948 Occupied Palestine to pressure his son to turn himself in.

Hundreds of members of Palestinian families were arrested as hostages to pressure their children to submit to Israeli occupation forces and police, which falls within the framework of the crime of collective punishment.

The tally of martyrs among Palestinian prisoners who died of torture inside jails has risen since the start of the Israeli genocide war on October 7 last year to 54, hitting the highest records ever.
