The Israeli occupation forces (IOF) destroyed the Friends of the Patient hospital in the city of Gaza, just weeks after it was renovated and returned to service.

Photos broadcast by activists on Friday showed the occupation forces deliberately firing artillery shells and missiles towards the small hospital, which had recently become an example of resilience and efforts to revive the health sector, despite the widespread destruction in Gaza.

The Friends of the Patient Hospital is one of the old and famous medical centers in Gaza, and it suffered destruction when the IOF began the ground offensive on the Gaza Strip. However, local efforts managed to renovate and repaint it from the outside, in preparation for its full rehabilitation, but the IOF proceeded to destroy it and take it out of service.

The occupation forces have consistently targeted the health sector in the Gaza Strip, especially in the northern areas, where they have destroyed many hospitals, clinics and medical centers since the start of the brutal war on Gaza, the most prominent of which was the Al-Shifa Hospital, the largest in the Gaza Strip, in addition to the hospitals of Beit Hanoun, Kamal Adwan, and the Indonesian hospital, and dozens of other health centers.

On Friday, the occupation forces partially withdrew from the industrial and university areas southwest of Gaza City, revealing widespread destruction, as well as their killing of dozens of civilians inside homes and alleys.

Gaza’s Civil Defense said that the scene in the industrial and university areas was extremely difficult and tragic after the withdrawal of the occupation army, with dozens of martyrs’ bodies scattered in the alleys and inside the destroyed homes, in addition to the burning of many homes that the occupation army had set on fire before withdrawing.

The IOF has been waging a destructive war with American support on Gaza since last October, leaving more than 126,000 Palestinian martyrs and wounded, mostly children and women, and more than 10,000 missing, amid massive destruction and famine that has claimed the lives of dozens of children.
