Head of Hamas’s political bureau Ismail Haneyya conducted a series of contacts with ceasefire mediators and some countries in the region following the horrific massacres that had been committed on Saturday by the Israeli occupation army in Khan Yunis and the west of Gaza City.

According to his office, Haneyya talked over the phone with regional officials about the Israeli obstacles that prevent reaching a ceasefire agreement and the massacres that took place in different areas of Gaza on Saturday.

Haneyya said that his Movement dealt positively and responsibly with the latest ceasefire proposal with the aim of reaching an agreement stopping the aggression against the Palestinian people in Gaza, but Israeli premier Benjamin Netanyahu persisted in putting obstacles in this regard and committing more massacres in Gaza.

Haneyya called on the mediators in Egypt and Qatar to intervene with the US administration and other concerned parties to put an end to Israel’s massacres and aggression in Gaza.

The Hamas leader also made similar contacts with officials from Türkiye and Oman.

The Israeli army attacked yesterday a designated humanitarian safe zone in southern Gaza, killing at least 90 civilians and wounding 300 others.

In order to justify the massacre, Israel claimed the target of Saturday’s massive attack in al-Mawasi area in southern Gaza was Hamas commander Mohamed al-Deif, but Netanyahu said he was not certain if that leader had been killed.

Hamas, for its part, rejected the Israeli claim as “lies,” saying “defenseless civilians” were massacred in the attack.
