A Palestinian young ex-detainee was proclaimed dead at dawn Friday after he succumbed to a serious bullet injury he sustained last night when the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) stormed Beit Ummar town in northern al-Khalil.
The Palestinian health ministry said that 20-year-old Ibrahim az-Zaaqiq died of a bullet injury in his head.
Israeli forces stormed Beit Ummar town shortly before midnight while opening fire at local youths, injuring Zaaqiq in his head.
Martyr Zaaqiq was an ex-detainee who had been released from an Israeli jail about two weeks ago.
After the health ministry announced Zaaqiq’s martyrdom, a massive angry march was staged in the central district of the town, during which the participants chanted slogans supporting the Palestinian resistance and denouncing Israeli crimes.
A general strike was also declared today in the town in mourning for the martyr.
