The Gaza City municipality has said that it suffers from a deficiency in its response to emergency operations and its provision of basic services to citizens due to the absence of sufficient vehicles and spare parts for maintenance.
“The Israeli occupation army destroyed during the genocidal war, which has been going on for about 10 months, around 80 percent of the municipality’s vehicles and equipment,” the municipality said in a statement on Saturday.
The municipality affirmed that the lack of spare parts, oils, fuel supplies needed to operate its few remaining vehicles increases its failure to respond to emergency operations and provide basic services to citizens.
The municipality pointed out that its bulldozers and the trucks used to collect garbage and sewage and carry water were the most damaged of all its service vehicles, adding that dozens of its power generators were also destroyed.
The municipality appealed to international organizations and all the concerned parties to intervene urgently to provide it with its needs of service vehicles and spare parts in order to address the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza City.
