Gaza Municipality said on Sunday “the ongoing crisis of the shortage of equipment and spare parts exacerbates the catastrophic conditions and increases the spread of diseases and epidemics in the (Gaza) city.”
The municipality added in a statement, that “the Israeli occupation forces destroyed 126 machines, about 80% of the municipality’s machinery, which aggravated the catastrophe the city is experiencing in various aspects of life, especially in the fields of health, environment, opening roads, and water and sanitation services.”
“The shortage of machinery and the lack of sufficient fuel and spare parts increase the accumulation of waste in the streets, causes a severe shortage of water and the leakage of sewage into the streets,” it elaborated.
The municipality called on international bodies and organizations to “bring in machinery and spare parts into Gaza to enable the municipality to restore the provision of public service for the sake of alleviating the suffering of the residents who have been languishing under an ongoing bloody aggression for more than nine months.”
