In response to Israel’s assassination of Hamas’s political chief Ismail Haneyya, al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, carried out on Wednesday morning two shooting operations against Israeli targets in al-Khalil province in the occupied West Bank.

“Our fighters were able to carry out two shooting operations this morning. The first one targeted an extremist settler at point-blank near the settlement of Kiryat Arba, while the second operation targeted Zionist soldiers near the Ibrahimi Mosque,” al-Qassam Brigades said in a communiqué.

The Brigades said that these operations were its first quick response to Israel’s “cowardly assassination” of its great national leader Ismail Haneyya.

The Brigades affirmed that al-Khalil province would be a primary arena of its special resistance operations in the coming days.

Eyewitnesses told journalists that resistance fighters opened fire at Israeli soldiers near the Ibrahimi Mosque in al-Khalil City and withdrew from the area.

In another shooting operation, a Jewish settler was seriously injured near the Kiryat Arba settlement.

According to Hebrew media reports, a Palestinian opened fire at an Israeli car on a road between Kiryat Arba and Beit Einun town, seized a weapon from the car and stabbed the driver with a knife before withdrawing from the area.

According to different media sources, other areas of the West Bank had also seen today a number of resistance operations in response to the assassination of Haneyya.
