Martyr Ismail Haneyya laid to rest following official and public procession in Doha

Tens of thousands of worshippers flocked to the Imam Muhammad bin Abdul Wahhab Mosque in the Qatari capital Doha to participate in the funeral procession of Ismail Haneyya, the head of the Hamas political bureau, after the Friday prayer.

Member of the Hamas political bureau, Khalil al-Hayya, led thousands of worshippers in the Qatari mosque in praying for the martyred leader and his slain guard Waseem Abu Shaban.

The head of Hamas abroad, Khaled Mishaal, spoke about the martyred leader, noting that he “did not leave Gaza except to continue struggle for the Palestinian cause.”

The Emir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, his father Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, and the Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, as well as official delegations from Türkiye and other countries, Palestinian factions’ leaders, and heads of institutions and organizations, participated in the funeral prayer.

After the prayer, the coffin of the martyred leader was carried to be buried in the Imam’s Cemetery in Lusail.

Qataris, including the official media, expressed their pride that the soil of Qatar would embrace the body of the martyred leader Ismail Haneyya.

The Qatari official television said, “Qatar will embrace from this day a pure piece of Palestine.”

In the Friday sermon, the preacher reviewed the virtue of the martyr and the status of martyrdom in Islam.

The correspondent of the Palestinian Information Center reported that many official delegations representing countries and institutions arrived in Doha to participate in the funeral of leader Haneyya.

He added that from the early morning, thousands of the Palestinian community, Arab and Islamic communities, in addition to Qataris, flocked to the Imam Muhammad bin Abdul Wahhab Mosque to bid farewell to Haneyya and participate in the prayer and funeral procession.

Early preparations were made in Doha to hold the funeral of Haneyya’s body in the presence of the public and officials, before he was buried in the Imam’s Cemetery in Lusail.

Concurrent with the funeral prayer for Haneyya in Doha, the absentee prayer was held for him in various countries. Amidst the Takbirs of the worshippers, and from the pulpit of the Al-Aqsa Mosque, Sheikh Ikrimah Sabri eulogized the martyr leader from the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque.

The President of Religious Affairs in Türkiye, Ali Erbaş, announced the holding of the absentee prayer throughout the country after the Friday prayer, for the martyr leader Ismail Haneyya.

Erbaş said in a post on his X account on Thursday evening: “A day of national mourning is declared in our country after the martyrdom of Ismail Haneyya, one of the senior leaders of the Palestinian cause.”

He added that the absentee prayer will also be held in all mosques in Türkiye after the Friday prayer. The absentee prayer was performed for Haneyya in many other countries.

The mosques of the West Bank responded to the call of the Hamas Movement to perform the absentee prayer on the soul of the martyr leader Ismail Haneyya after the Friday prayer. The worshippers gathered in all the mosques of the West Bank to perform the absentee prayer on the martyr leader Haneyya in appreciation of his struggle and the sacrifices he made for the Palestinian cause.

On Thursday, the body of the head of the Hamas Political Bureau, Ismail Haneyya, arrived in Doha, coming from Iran. Earlier on Thursday, the Iranian capital witnessed an official and popular funeral procession for the head of the Hamas Political Bureau, following his assassination at his residence in Tehran.

On Wednesday morning, Hamas announced the martyrdom of Haneyya in a Zionist raid that targeted his residence in Tehran, a day after his participation in the inauguration ceremony of the new Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.
