Member of Hamas’s political bureau Ezzat Al-Resheq said on Monday, “(Israeli war minister Yoav) Gallant’s remarks admitting that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is the one who is creating obstacles to reaching a ceasefire deal in Gaza confirms the latter’s lies and intransigence.”
In a statement, Al-Resheq added that Gallant’s remarks “confirm what we have always said that Netanyahu is lying to the world and the families of the Israeli prisoners in Gaza and that he does not care about the life of the prisoners, and does not want to reach an agreement, and that all he cares about is the continuation and expansion of the war.”
He noted that Hamas’s flexibility and positive response to ceasefire proposals, including US President Joe Biden’s call for a ceasefire last May, “collided with Netanyahu’s intransigence and his evasion of the obligation to reach a ceasefire agreement and a prisoner exchange deal.”
Al-Resheq called on the world to put pressure on Netanyahu and his government to stop the brutal aggression and the war of genocide, and to reach an exchange deal, saying, “the victory that Netanyahu is seeking is mere illusion.”
