The Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission reported that Israeli occupation forces (IOF) and Jewish settlers have ignited 273 fires in Palestinian lands and property since the start of the Israeli genocidal war on Gaza on October 7 last year.

The head of the commission, Muayad Shaban, said these attacks reflect a clear attempt to perpetuate state-sponsored terrorism by terrorizing civilians and destroying their property, aiming to force a large-scale displacement and confine the Palestinian population to isolated, besieged enclaves.

Shaban revealed that fire attacks were concentrated in the governorates of Nablus (120 fires), Ramallah (42 fires), and Jenin (26 fires), ranging from 77 incidents targeting agricultural land and crops to 196 affecting residential buildings, vehicles, and other properties.

Shaban further explained that among these fires, 56 were ignited by IOF raids and attacks, while joint settler-IOF attacks caused nine fires, while settlers were responsible for the majority of the attacks, igniting 208 fires.

The head of the commission added that igniting fires as a systematic and escalating method inflicts severe damage, describing it as a tool of terrorism and intimidation aimed at causing significant losses to the social and economic conditions of Palestinian communities.

He warned that the IOF and settlers carry out such attacks under the guise of the war and emergency laws, recalling previous horrific crimes such as setting the child Muhammad Abu Khudair on fire in 2014 and the Dawabsha family in 2015.

Shaban called on the international community to assume its responsibilities and impose sanctions on certain individuals and groups of settlers who repeatedly carry out such heinous crimes.
