The Israeli army said on Friday that the military incursion it began in the city of Jenin in the northern occupied West Bank ten days ago is still ongoing. In an official statement, the army said its forces will continue the operation until achieving its objectives, without specifying what those objectives are.

The statement claimed the elimination of 14 resistance fighters in Jenin, the arrest of more than 30 individuals accused of involvement in resistance activities, and the destruction of approximately 30 explosive devices. The Israeli army also claimed to have found weapons and combat equipment that were seized.

A total of 21 citizens have been martyred, including children and the elderly, with others wounded, some seriously, in the occupation army’s assault on Jenin province, which has been described as the bloodiest and most intense since 2002.

Earlier, eyewitnesses reported that the occupation army withdrew from the cities of Tulkarem and Jenin in the northern West Bank and their refugee camps after a ten-day military aggression that left 36 Palestinian martyrs and widespread destruction of infrastructure.

On August 28, the occupation army launched a large-scale military aggression in the northern West Bank, which included the cities and refugee camps of Jenin, Tulkarem, Tubas, and the Faraa refugee camp, resulting in repeated incursions that led to the killing and arrest of many Palestinians.

At the same time, thousands in Jenin attended funerals for eight Palestinians who were killed by the occupation army during the military assault on the city. The funeral processions started in front of the Jenin government hospital, where mourners raised Palestinian flags and chanted slogans condemning Israeli violations, while armed individuals fired in the air to express their anger and demand retribution.

For its part, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) reported today that last week was the deadliest for Palestinian civilians in the West Bank since November 2023. The agency clarified in a post on the X platform that “violence and destruction in the West Bank are continuously increasing amid the ongoing war on Gaza,” emphasizing that this situation is “unacceptable and must stop immediately.”

UNRWA noted that last week saw the killing of many Palestinians, including seven children. It explained that the Israeli aggression in the northern West Bank has thus far resulted in the martyrdom of 40 Palestinians, including 21 from Jenin, eight from Tulkarem, eight from Tubas, and three from al-Khalil.

The occupation forces continue their aggression in the West Bank concurrently with the ongoing extermination war in Gaza since October 7, 2023, with the army and settlers intensifying their attacks in the West Bank, resulting in the martyrdom of 691 Palestinians and the injury of 5,700 others, as well as the arrest of more than 10,400 Palestinians, according to official Palestinian organizations.
