The Hamas official Abdul Rahman Shadid, said the martyrdom of paramedic Hamdan Anaba at the hands of the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) in an Israeli detention center is part of escalating crimes against Palestinian prisoners.
Shadid mourned the martyr Anaba, who was killed in an Israeli detention facility just after he was arrested while he was in the line of duty, driving an ambulance car for the Ministry of Health in Gaza.
He explained that the martyrdom of Anaba is a new stigma added to the Israeli criminal record, as the martyr was arrested while on a humanitarian mission to evacuate the wounded from Gaza, and was subjected to arrest and torture, and no information about his whereabouts or condition was made available to his family.
The Hamas official called for an urgent investigation to uncover the truth about his martyrdom and to ensure accountability, stressing that Anaba was part of a humanitarian team dedicated to saving lives and demanded that his case be treated as a matter of grave concern, particularly given his role as a healthcare provider.
He also called for taking action to save Palestinian prisoners from the Israeli escalating crimes inside prisons and detention centers.
Earlier, Palestinian sources announced the martyrdom of the paramedic Hamdan Anaba, 46, who died because of torture at the hands of IOF soldiers on the same day of his arrest in the Gaza Strip.
Hassan Anaba, the son of the martyred paramedic said on Monday that his father was arrested on December 2 at the Netzarim military checkpoint separating the north and south of the Gaza Strip, heading to Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City on a medical mission, according to Sanad News Agency.
He confirmed that his father, who worked at Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Yunis, south of the Strip, obtained prior coordination from the Civil Affairs Authority before going to Al-Shifa Hospital, and yet, he was arrested.
He further explained that a human rights organization informed the family on Sunday evening, about his father’s death just after his arrest, without giving further details about the circumstances and conditions of his detention or death.
He said that the family authorized the same organization to investigate the circumstances of the martyrdom of the paramedic Anaba and the place of his detention, explaining that they had been searching for him for the past months, but the answers about his fate were contradictory.
Meanwhile, Hebrew media reported that 48 Palestinian prisoners from the Gaza Strip were killed in Israeli prisons since October 7.
With the announcement of the martyrdom of Hamdan Anaba, the number of Palestinian paramedics who have been killed since the beginning of the Israeli war has risen to 22, including 19 paramedics in Gaza, two in the West Bank, and one paramedic inside Israeli prisons, according to Ibrahim Al-Ghoula, the Director of the Red Crescent Ambulance Department.
