Israeli occupation forces’ (IOF) bulldozers destroyed the infrastructure at the entrance of Nur Shams refugee camp on Thursday, coinciding with the ongoing assault on the city and the refugee camp of Tulkarem for the third consecutive day.
Witnesses reported that two heavy bulldozers, accompanied by several military vehicles, stormed the entrance area of the camp and the Al-Manshiya neighborhood, beginning to raze the infrastructure and extending along the adjacent Nablus Street, according to WAFA News Agency.
They added that the destruction affected communication and internet networks, resulting in a complete internet blackout in the camp.
The IOF raided the Al-Sahaba Mosque in the Engineers Housing area near Nur Shams camp and arrested several citizens who were inside.
Ibrahim Al-Nimr, director of the Tulkarem Prisoners Society, said that the IOF arrested several citizens.
In this context, the IOF soldiers continue to raid and besiege Tulkarem camp, deploying military vehicles at its southeastern and northern entrances, amidst the demolition of several homes there, the latest being a house in the Qaqoun neighborhood this morning.
Faisal Salama, head of the Popular Committee for Services in Tulkarem camp, said that the IOF continues its assaults on the camp and its residents, raiding homes, forcing their owners to leave, and blowing up or burning several of them.
He added that during the past two days, 10 homes were destroyed, in addition to the extensive and comprehensive damage to infrastructure and citizens’ properties, leaving the camp in a catastrophic state with an extremely difficult humanitarian situation due to water shortages, amid pleas from residents to provide drinking water to besieged homes. He noted that the IOF has prevented humanitarian aid from entering the camp, exacerbating the humanitarian and psychological situation there.
Local sources reported that the IOF prevented ambulance crews from entering the camp to transfer patients and the deceased to the hospital, despite prior coordination through the International Committee of the Red Cross.
They added that IOF soldiers continue to raid homes, mistreat residents, arrest several, and force others to leave the camp, in addition to using elderly people as human shields, putting their lives at risk.
The IOF soldiers continue their siege of the Martyr Thabet Thabet Government Hospital in Tulkarem, obstructing the work of medical staff and interrogating patients entering and leaving the hospital.
The IOF also arrested the young man Ali Samir Al-Labadi after storming his home in the town of Faroun south of Tulkarem.
