The Israeli army said on Sunday morning that a missile fired from Yemen hit Tel Aviv in central Israel (1948 occupied Palestine), triggering air raid sirens in the city and its vicinity.
Israeli media reported that sirens sounded in central Israel in about 20 towns and cities east and south of Tel Aviv, noting that the missile attack sparked fire in the Lod area, which indicates that the missile was not intercepted, despite that the Iron Dome system was already activated.
The Israeli army acknowledged that a missile fell in an uninhabited area east of Tel Aviv, while the Israeli Broadcasting Authority announced that the missile was launched from the east of Yemen.
The spokesman for the Israeli occupation army confirmed that a ground-to-ground missile was launched towards central Israel and fell in an open area without causing any casualties.
Hebrew media said, however, that nine settlers were injured as they rushed to shelters.
Last July, one Israeli was killed, and 10 others were injured when a drone fell in central Tel Aviv, hundreds of meters from the US embassy. The Yemeni Ansar Allah group claimed responsibility for the attack.
In solidarity with Gaza which has been facing a devastating Israeli war since October 7, 2023, the Yemeni army has been targeting Israeli or Israeli-linked cargo ships in the Red and Arabian seas with missiles and drones.
