The Civil Defense in the Gaza Strip reported that women and children represent the highest percentage of martyrs due to Israeli airstrikes on residential homes and displacement centers during August.
In a brief statement on Sunday, the Civil Defense explained that the monthly report indicates that among every 10 martyrs, 3 to 7 are women and children.
According to the report, 2 to 8 bodies out of every 10 show signs of mutilation, such as amputations, due to the intensity of the bombardment and exposure to collapsing roofs and concrete debris.
It highlighted the increase in the number of martyrs among women and children due to direct Israeli bombardments without prior warning on citizens’ homes, schools, and tents housing the displaced.
Israeli aircraft and artillery continued their bombardment of buildings and shelters throughout the enclave, resulting in thousands of martyrs, wounded, and missing under the rubble of their homes. The most recent massacre occurred when the Al-Zeitoun school was struck, resulting in the martyrdom of 22 citizens, most of whom were women and children.
Since October 7, 2023, the Israeli occupation army has continued its genocidal war on Gaza with full American support, leading to over 137,000 martyrs and wounded, mostly women and children, along with 10,000 missing persons and massive destruction of infrastructure amid a deadly famine.
