Yemen’s army spokesman Yehya Sariee said on Wednesday that his country fired three cruise missiles that targeted the heart of the Israeli occupation state in support of both the Palestinian and Lebanese peoples.

In a communiqué, Sariee applauded Iran’s missile counterattack on Israel on Tuesday night and vowed to widen Yemen’s operations against “the Israeli enemy or those backing them until the war on Gaza and Lebanon comes to a halt.”

On Tuesday, spokesman Sariee said that Yemen’s armed forces had launched multiple attacks targeting two ships traveling off the Yemeni coast.

The spokesman said the first operation targeted the British oil ship “Cordelia Moon” in the Red Sea, using eight ballistic and cruise missiles, one drone and one unmanned boat.

He added that the operation “severely damaged” the ship, according to Yemen’s al-Masirah satellite channel.

“The second operation targeted the ship “Marathopolis” in the Indian Ocean with a cruise missile, and the third operation targeted the same ship again in the Arabian Sea,” he said.

Since last November, Yemen’s armed forces and Ansarullah group started to launch anti-ship missiles and drones targeting what they said were Israeli-linked ships transiting the Red Sea in particular to show solidarity with the Palestinians in Gaza, which has been under relentless Israeli attacks since October 7, 2023.
