Senior Hamas official Osama Hamdan has reiterated his Movement’s “positive” position towards any proposals or ideas ensuring the withdrawal of Israeli forces from the entire Gaza Strip and leading to a real prisoner swap deal and an end of the aggression.
“The key to reaching an agreement that ends this war, stops the aggression against our people and achieve a prisoner exchange deal is to return to what had been agreed upon on July 2 and to abide by the Security Council Resolution 3735,” Hamadan told a news conference on Monday evening.
Hamdan called for pressuring Israeli premier Benjamin Netanyahu to prevent him from obstructing the mediators’ efforts to reach a ceasefire agreement, stressing that Netanyahu is fully responsible for the death of more Israeli captives at the hands of his forces in Gaza.
Hamdan also highlighted the Israeli tight siege and intensive attacks on northern Gaza. “Northern Gaza has been seeing Zionist genocide and ethnic cleansing for 30 days, with the aim of displacing its residents who has decided to remain steadfast on their land and refused to yield to the enemy’s plots, while their homes and tents are being brutally bombed and deliberately burned.”
“More than 100,000 Palestinians in the northern Gaza Strip have become living with no basics of human survival. Over 1,800 people were martyred in the northern Gaza governorate, mostly women and children,” Hamdan said.
Hamdan accused the US administration and some Western countries of being accomplices in the Israeli massacres and genocide that are being committed against the Palestinian people and providing all forms of political, diplomatic, military and security support for the Israeli occupation regime.
Hamdan added that the atrocities in Gaza happen in full view of the entire world and are aired live, with no regard for the Security Council’s resolution calling on Israel to end its war on Gaza immediately or for the International Court of Justice’s orders calling for taking measures to prevent acts of genocide and improve the catastrophic humanitarian situation in Gaza.
The Hamas official held the US administration and the international community responsible for the ongoing horrific crimes and massacres in Gaza, expressing his belief that the perpetrators of these atrocities and their supporters would be held accountable and stand trial, no matter how long it takes.
