The spokesman for Al-Quds Brigades, the armed wing of Islamic Jihad, Abu Hamza, revealed that an Israeli captive had tried to take his own life before he was rescued.
Abu Hamza said via his Telegram channel on Thursday, “Three days ago, one of our medical teams dealt with a case of attempted suicide among Israeli captives held at one of the Al-Quds Brigades’ security groups.”
He pointed out that the medical team managed to save the prisoner’s life after he attempted suicide due to his psychological state after the Israeli government set new conditions that led to the failure and delay of an imminent prisoner swap deal.
Abu Hamza affirmed that the captive who attempted suicide was scheduled to be released along with other prisoners under the conditions of the first phase of the exchange deal.
He pointed out that as a result of this incident, Al-Quds Brigades issued a decision to tighten security and safety measures for holding the Israeli captives.
Palestinian sources revealed that Israeli premier Benjamin Netanyahu recently set new conditions that hindered the implementation of the first phase of a deal that includes a truce and an exchange of prisoners followed by a comprehensive ceasefire.
