Israeli occupation forces (IOF) stationed east of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip prevented ambulances from reaching the Rafah border crossing to transport the wounded and sick people who are scheduled to travel abroad for treatment.
The Palestinian Red Crescent Society reported Tuesday that the IOF tanks blocked the traffic of ambulances transporting patients for receiving treatment abroad, despite coordination with the World Health Organization.
It said that the occupation army tanks also opened fire in the vicinity of the ambulances, which exposed medical crews and patients to danger.
“Until this moment, the ambulances are still stuck in the place, waiting to be allowed to cross, amid clear disregard of the simplest humanitarian laws,” it added.
The first phase of the ceasefire agreement ended on Saturday evening, while negotiations for the second phase were supposed to begin on the 16th day of the first phase of the agreement (February 3).
Since the ceasefire came into force on January 19, the IOF has committed hundreds of violations, leading to more than 117 martyrs and hundreds of wounded, in addition to its failure to implement the humanitarian protocol.
