The UN spokesman, Stephane Dujarric, said the closure of the crossings in the Gaza Strip has led to an increase in food prices to more than 100-fold throughout the Strip.

Dujarric stated during a press conference on Tuesday that the humanitarian partners told the UN that after the closure of the crossings leading to Gaza on Sunday, the prices of flour and vegetables increased more than 100-fold.

He said, “So much has been achieved since the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, in terms of aid flow, opening of schools, delivery of tents, and the prisoner releases,” adding, “Let’s keep goring.”

When asked about Israeli premier Benjamin Netanyahu’s recent remarks claiming that the reason to halt aid was due to Hamas selling it, Dujarric said, “None of that has been reported back here by our colleagues on the ground.”

The UN spokesman added, “We have seen since the ceasefire a much freer and more direct flow of aid, and we have not seen any of the looting that we had witnessed prior to the ceasefire.”

On Saturday, Netanyahu announced the closure of all Gaza crossings, preventing aid delivery into the Strip, to push the Palestinian resistance in Gaza to deliver all Israeli captives at once and without prisoner exchange.
