Israeli occupation forces (IOF), backed by armored vehicles, advanced into in the village of Ain al-Nuriya, the town of Umm Batna and the town of Swissa in the Quneitra countryside in Syria on Wednesday, in the third incursion of its kind within the past 24 hours.
Local sources said that the IOF carried out the incursion and conducted searches under the pretext of searching for Syrian army weapons.
The Syrian villages and towns adjacent to the occupied Syrian Golan are witnessing repeated Israeli incursions, the most recent of which was the IOF incursion into a military position in Tel Al-Mal in the countryside of the Quneitra Governorate, where they inspected the area in search for weapons before they withdrew from it amid the flight of helicopters and reconnaissance aircraft.
The Syrian President Ahmed Al-Shara said that Israel’s continuous violations in the Syrian lands require that Arab countries stand together in the face of these threats.
In his speech to the Arab Summit in Cairo, Al-Shara appealed to the Arab countries to bear their responsibilities in helping Syria to put an end to Israeli violations.
For his part, the UN Special Envoy to Syria, Geir O. Pedersen, condemned the continuous Israeli military escalation in Syria, including air strikes.
The UN envoy said in a statement that he was concerned about the continuous violations of the Syrian-Israeli Disengagement Agreement of 1974.
Pedersen added that these violations portend the escalation of regional tensions and undermine efforts to reduce escalation and achieve sustainable political transition in Syria in accordance with the international decisions.
The UN Special Envoy called on Israel to stop such violations and respect its international obligations, urging all parties to respect Syria’s sovereignty, unity, independence and territorial integrity.
