A senior-level Hamas delegation met the Turkish foreign minister Hakan Fidan in Ankara for a discussion on latest field and political developments in occupied Palestine.
A Hamas statement late Saturday evening said that the two sides discussed Israel’s violation of the ceasefire agreement and its renewed aggression on Gaza Strip including the destruction of the Turkish Friendship Hospital, the only hospital specialized in treating cancer patients in the Strip.
They also debated latest developments in the ceasefire negotiations and the American envoy Steve Witkoff’s proposal in addition to Israeli premier Benjamin Netanyahu’s obstinacy and his refusal to engage in the second phase of the ceasefire agreement and closure of Gaza crossings before humanitarian aid convoys.
The Hamas delegation affirmed the importance of obliging Israel to abide by the agreement, pointing to the Movement’s flexibility during the talks in order to reach a permanent ceasefire, full Israeli withdrawal from Gaza, and the exchange of prisoners.
For his part, Fidan affirmed Türkiye’s firm support of the Palestinian people and rejection of the Israeli aggression. He added that Israel must be obliged to abide by the agreement’s second and third stages, allow resumption of aid supplies, and the immediate start of reconstruction of Gaza.
