GMO: Gaza on the brink of humanitarian catastrophe amid ongoing genocide

GAZA, (PIC)

The Government Media Office (GMO) has warned that the Gaza Strip is on the brink of a humanitarian catastrophe amid ongoing genocide and international silence.

In a statement on Sunday, the GMO said, “In light of the continued genocide and aggression carried out by the brutal Israeli occupation army on the Gaza Strip, more than 2.4 million Palestinians are facing an unprecedented humanitarian disaster. The Israeli occupation continues to implement a policy of genocide and daily killings against unarmed civilians, targeting people, property, structures, and agricultural land without any deterrent from the international community.”

It emphasized that the occupation’s insistence on closing the crossings leading to and from the Gaza Strip and preventing humanitarian aid from entering deepens the worsening crisis.

The statement noted that the occupation forces are preventing trucks carrying food and medicine from entering, leading to increased rates of hunger and malnutrition, especially among over a million children and the elderly.

Additionally, the occupation continues its policy of water deprivation and the destruction of water wells, making it difficult for civilians to access water, resulting in a suffocating water crisis that threatens the lives of the Palestinian people, amidst a lack of safe drinking water and the spread of diseases due to pollution and the absence of basic health services, GMO elaborated.

In a scene reflecting the Israeli occupation’s approach to killing civilian life, the prohibition on the entry of cooking gas and fuel in general into the Gaza Strip continues, causing bakeries and vital facilities to cease operations and paralyzing the transportation sector. This has rendered movement within the Strip nearly impossible and increased the suffering of patients and the wounded who need to reach hospitals and medical centers, according to the Office.

It said, “We are facing a compounded humanitarian disaster, the severity of which escalates with the continuation of this suffocating siege, amidst shameful international and Arab silence that encourages the occupation to proceed with its criminal policies without deterrent.”

The Office called on the international community to bear its legal and moral responsibilities and to take immediate action to stop these crimes being carried out by the Israeli occupation with impunity.

It also demanded the urgent opening of crossings to allow humanitarian aid to enter and save the lives of innocents facing slow death in the Gaza Strip.

The statement held Israel and the U.S. administration fully responsible for these ongoing crimes against civilians, and urged all countries in the world to pressure Israel to stop these crimes, open the crossings, and allow aid to enter immediately before it is too late.
