At least three people were killed and seven others were injured in an Israeli airstrike on Beirut’s southern suburbs early on Tuesday, the Lebanese health ministry said.
According to local media, two missiles hit the top three floors of an apartment building in the southern suburbs of Beirut. Citizens told journalists that no evacuation warning was issued ahead of the strike and that families who lived there have now fled to other parts of the city.
The Israeli occupation army justified its attack on the building by claiming that it targeted a Hezbollah official “who had recently directed Hamas operatives and assisted them.”
Lebanon’s president Joseph Aoun condemned the attack. “Israel’s persistence in its aggression requires making more efforts to address Lebanon’s friends around the world and rally their support for our right to full sovereignty over our land,” he said.
