Yemen’s Ansarullah group said at dawn Tuesday that new US strikes targeted sites in the capital city, Sana’a.
Al-Masirah satellite channel, affiliated with the group, stated in a brief statement that two strikes targeted Jabel an-Nabi Shu’ayb in Bani Matar district near Sana’a City, without providing further details.
On Monday, Yemeni media outlets reported eight US airstrikes on the northern and northeastern areas of Sana’a.
Strikes in Sana’a reportedly killed one person, with Al-Masirah channel showing footage of broken glass in homes, but withholding specifics about the targets.
A separate strike targeted a pickup truck in Bani Qais area in Hajjah province, north of Yemen, killing two people and wounding a child.
In a separate incident, Yemen’s armed forces affirmed they shot down a US MQ-9 drone over Yemen’s central province of Marib.
“Our air defenses shot down a hostile American MQ-9 drone in the airspace of Marib province, using a homemade missile,” spokesman for the Yemeni army Yehya Sariee said in a statement aired by the group’s Al-Masirah TV on Monday.
“This is the 16th US drone that our air defenses have successfully shot down since October 2023,” he said, without specifying the exact timing. Local media reported that the drone was downed on Monday.
“We affirm that we will continue to prevent Israeli navigation in the Red Sea and the Arabian Sea … until the aggression against Gaza stops and the siege is lifted,” Sariee said, adding the armed forces would keep carrying out attacks against US warships in response to its strikes on Yemen.
Pro-Israel US attacks on northern Yemen have continued sporadically since the start of Israel’s genocidal war on the Gaza Strip, but they have escalated under the Trump administration.
