Abu Obeida, spokesperson for the Al-Qassam Brigades, has confirmed that the fate of the captive Aidan Alexander and several of his captors is unknown, following the retrieval of a martyr who was tasked with securing him.

In a brief statement on his Telegram channel on Saturday, Abu Obeida said, “We managed to retrieve a martyr who was tasked with securing the captive Aidan Alexander, and the fate of the captive and the rest of the mujahideen holding him remains unknown.”

He added, “We are trying to protect all captives and preserve their lives despite the barbarity of the aggression… but their lives are in danger due to the criminal bombing operations carried out by the enemy’s army.”

He emphasized that Israel lies in its claims of treating captives in an inhumane manner and fabricates false testimonies by former captives to incite against the resistance and cover up the scandal of killing many of its captives, leading to the continued suffering of the rest.

Last Tuesday, Abu Obeida announced that contact had been lost with the group holding Israeli-American soldier Aidan Alexander. In brief tweets on Telegram that afternoon, he stated, “We lost contact with the captors of soldier Alexander after a direct bombing targeted their location, and we are trying to reach them up to this moment.”

Abu Obeida also mentioned that Al-Qassam’s estimates indicate that the occupation army is deliberately trying to relieve pressure regarding the file of dual-nationality captives to continue its war of extermination.
