JENIN, (PIC)
Israeli occupation forces (IOF) have continued their escalating aggression against the city of Jenin and its camp for 101 consecutive days, amid large-scale destruction of homes and infrastructure.
The Jenin Media Committee reported that the IOF dispatched additional military reinforcements to the camp and its vicinity, while the city witnessed repetitive incursions into several neighborhoods in addition to heavy military deployment in most of its villages and towns.
In a press statement on Thursday, the committee stated that the occupation army continues its destruction and bulldozing operations inside the camp, amid an ongoing blockade and a tight siege following the installation of iron gates at the camp’s entrances a few days ago.
All homes and facilities in the camp have been either completely or partially damaged due to the ongoing IOF aggression and continuous destruction and demolitions aimed at creating a structural change in the camp.
According to the statement, around 800 residential units in the city have been partially damaged, in addition to 15 buildings that have been demolished in the city since the beginning of the aggression, with the majority of the damage concentrated in buildings and homes located in the Eastern and Al-Hadaf neighborhoods.
The number of the displaced people from Jenin city and its camp has surged to more than 22,000 people who were forced by the IOF to flee their homes amid difficult living conditions and almost complete commercial and economic paralysis, especially in the western neighborhoods, where many commercial activities have ceased and economic losses have increased significantly.
The committee noted that the ongoing aggression against Jenin and its camp since January 21 has resulted in the killing of 41 citizens, including two killed by the Palestinian Authority’s security forces, in addition to the injury of dozens and the escalation of arrests across the Jenin governorate.
It noted that the number of arrests in the city and camp of Jenin since the onset of the widespread aggression had reached 318, in addition to dozens of people being subjected to field investigations.
In light of the tragic situation in the Jenin camp, the committee called for urgent intervention to save citizens and alleviate their suffering, stressing the need to side with them, strengthen their resilience, and provide them with all urgent needs.
