Hamas has affirmed that US President Donald Trump’s statements accusing the Movement of controlling humanitarian aid in the Gaza Strip are “nothing but a shocking repetition of the lies of Netanyahu’s terrorist government, which seeks to justify its systematic starvation of innocent civilians.”
In a press statement on Tuesday, Hamas said these accusations clearly contradict UN reports, testimonies from humanitarian organizations working in the Strip, and all evidence on the ground, while they are in line with Israel’s policies, which uses starvation as a weapon in flagrant violation of international law and humanitarian norms.
It stressed that “it is not enough for Trump to ask Netanyahu to send some food. What is needed is a responsible stance that respects international humanitarian law and demands the immediate opening of the crossings, ensures the flow of aid and relief, and stops the use of food as a tool of blackmail and pressure in this conflict.”
Hamas urged the US administration to correct its position, stop providing cover for Israel’s genocide and the starvation policies pursued in the Strip, and pressure it to stop its aggression and open the crossings that have been closed for more than two months to allow the entry of all basic life-saving essential supplies.
US President Donald Trump said earlier that his country would provide assistance to ensure that food reaches Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, while ignoring Israel’s role in blocking aid entry into the besieged enclave.
