The Hamas Movement stated that the massacre at Abu Hemaisa School in Al-Bureij refugee camp, which was sheltering displaced persons, constitutes a new crime added to the criminal Zionist occupation’s black record.
In a statement received by the Palestinian Information Center on Tuesday, Hamas affirmed: “The enemy army committed a heinous massacre by bombing a school sheltering displaced civilians in Al-Bureij camp, in the central Gaza Strip, resulting in the martyrdom of 18 people and dozens of injuries, most of them women and children, with some victims still trapped under the rubble.”
Hamas pointed out that the deliberate targeting of defenceless civilians in shelters, amid extremely dire humanitarian conditions, exposes the occupation’s determination to commit collective massacres as part of a systematic genocide against our people in Gaza.
The Movement described the incident as “a shocking and bloody scene that reflects the brutality of this occupation and its ongoing criminal tendencies aimed at breaking the will of the Palestinian people and forcibly displacing them.”
Hamas called upon the international community, the United Nations, and all human rights and humanitarian organizations to break their silence and to take urgent and effective steps to stop the massacres, end the war, open the crossings, allow the entry of medicine and food, and save what remains of life in the Gaza Strip.
