The Palestinian Civil Defense announced on Thursday that 75% of its vehicles in the Gaza Strip are out of service due to fuel depletion.
The Civil Defense said in a press statement that its teams are suffering from severe shortages of power generators and oxygen equipment in Gaza, accusing Israel of exacerbating the suffering of the Palestinian people in the Strip due to the ongoing war and suffocating blockade.
Late April, the Civil Defense announced that fuel for firefighting, rescue, and ambulance vehicles in the southern Gaza Strip had already run out, forcing eight of the 12 vehicles to stop operating.
The Civil Defense called on the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) and international institutions to take immediate action to open the Gaza Strip crossings and bring in fuel to supply humanitarian organizations and agencies.
Israeli occupation forces have been waging a war of genocide and ethnic cleansing in the Gaza Strip for 580 consecutive days. Furthermore, the Strip’s crossings have been closed for more than two months.
The death toll from the ongoing Israeli military offensive on the Gaza Strip has risen to 52,653 martyrs since October 7, 2023, in addition to 118,897 wounded, mostly children and women.
