The Al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of the Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas, announced at 6:30 PM today, Monday, the release of Israeli soldier Edan Alexander, who holds American citizenship.
In a statement, Hamas mentioned that following communications with the US administration, as part of efforts by mediators to achieve a ceasefire, open crossings, and allow the entry of aid and relief to the Gaza Strip, the soldier Edan Alexander was released on Monday evening.
The Movement indicated that this step comes after significant communications in which Hamas demonstrated positivity and high flexibility. It affirmed that serious and responsible negotiations yield results in the release of prisoners, rather than continuing aggression that prolongs their suffering and may lead to their deaths.
Hamas announced its readiness to immediately begin negotiations that would lead to a comprehensive agreement for a sustainable ceasefire, the withdrawal of the occupation army, the end of the blockade, the exchange of prisoners, and the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip.
The Movement urged the administration of US President Donald Trump to continue its efforts to end this brutal war waged by war criminal Netanyahu against children, women, and unarmed civilians in the Gaza Strip.
